The KENNAMETAL 3660430 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and three right-hand spiral flutes with a high helix angle of 38 degrees. The single-end, centercutting design allows plunge entry as well as standard peripheral and slot cutting. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide with a bright uncoated finish, this tool is optimized for coarse-pitch material removal in aluminum, copper, brass, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials. It is sized for use with standard end mill toolholders and is intended for CNC machining centers and manual milling operations requiring a controlled corner radius profile.
This end mill fits residential and commercial machine shop environments where non-ferrous metal finishing and roughing operations are performed. The 1-1/4 inch length of cut accommodates moderate-depth passes, while the 3 inch overall length provides clearance for standard toolholder setups. The corner radius geometry reduces corner chipping and extends tool life compared to sharp-corner end mills in high-cycle production runs. Machinists and CNC programmers working on aluminum fixtures, housings, and structural components will find this tool suited to both roughing and light finishing passes at the corner transition.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal. Series ABDE.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle at a complete stop. Use calibrated toolholder torque procedures per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines and verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts. Confirm shank seating depth meets the toolholder minimum grip length specification. Inspect the corner radius profile for chipping before each setup, particularly after any interrupted cuts.
