Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 3660157 is the KSEMP3400HPGM replaceable carbide tip insert for the KSEM Plus modular drill system. Manufactured to ISO designation KSEMP3400HPGM, it carries the KC7315 grade designation - a fine-grain solid carbide with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating engineered for heat resistance and edge retention at aggressive feed rates. The tip measures 34.00 mm (1.3386 inches) in cutting diameter with a 140-degree drill point angle and features an HPG insert geometry. Two helical flutes channel chips away from the cutting zone. Installation uses a mechanical clamp-style insert seat size 9. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling volume drilling operations are the primary end users.

This tip is designed for drilling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials. Rated primary workpiece material codes include P (Steel), M (Stainless Steel), K (Cast Iron), N (Non-Ferrous Metal), and S (Superalloys and Titanium). The 140-degree point geometry and TiAlN coating make it suitable for production-volume drilling in both manual and CNC machining centers where consistent hole quality and tool life are priorities. The helical flute profile supports reliable chip evacuation in interrupted and continuous cuts alike.

Key Features

  • 34.00 mm cutting diameter with HPG insert geometry for consistent bore geometry
  • KC7315 fine-grain solid carbide grade with PVD TiAlN coating for extended tool life
  • 140-degree standard drill point angle for reduced thrust and accurate entry
  • Two helical flutes for efficient chip evacuation in steel, stainless, cast iron, and titanium
  • Clamp-style insert holding method ensures rigid, repeatable seating in KSEM Plus bodies
  • Regular spiral, standard point style suitable for through-hole and blind-hole drilling applications

Compatibility

Designed for use with KSEM Plus series modular drill bodies accepting insert seat size 9 at 34.00 mm cutting diameter. Compatible workpiece materials per manufacturer rating: Steel, Stainless Steel, Cast Iron, Non-Ferrous Metal, Superalloys, and Titanium (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S).

Installation Notes

Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist following the tool holder manufacturer's torque and assembly procedure for KSEM Plus bodies. Power down and lock out the spindle before removing or installing the replaceable tip. Inspect the insert seat for debris, damage, or wear before seating a new tip, as a contaminated seat will compromise runout and hole accuracy. Coolant-through capability is not supported on this tip; verify coolant delivery method matches your setup before installation.
