The KENNAMETAL 3658877 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 3/16-inch mill diameter and a 45-degree helix angle, it delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The two-flute spiral geometry and right-hand cutting direction make it well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. Material grade K600 carbide provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for production environments. It is a centercutting design, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers typically specify this tool for close-tolerance work where dimensional accuracy is critical.
This end mill is used in job shop and production machining environments where small-diameter tooling is required. The 5/16-inch length of cut and 2-inch overall length position it for shallow-to-medium depth slotting and contouring passes on CNC milling machines and manual mills. The 3/16-inch shank diameter matches the mill diameter, making it compatible with standard collet systems in that bore size. The bright/uncoated finish suits applications where coating interaction with the workpart material is a concern or where re-sharpening is anticipated.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill for CNC and manual milling machines accepting a 3/16-inch collet or end mill holder.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended grip length before torquing the retention mechanism. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation and before initiating a cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece from damage caused by excessive eccentricity.
