Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 3658865 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length with a 1 inch straight cylindrical shank. The three-flute, right-hand spiral design runs a high helix angle of 37 degrees, promoting efficient chip evacuation and reducing built-up edge on aluminum and other non-ferrous workpieces. The bright uncoated finish is standard for this submicron carbide grade. It is single-end and center-cutting, suitable for plunge entry as well as peripheral milling. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments install this tool in hydraulic or collet-style toolholders.

This end mill is designed for roughing operations on non-ferrous metals, including aluminum alloys and similar materials where sharp, uncoated carbide outperforms coated alternatives. The coarse pitch and high helix geometry are well-suited to high-speed machining centers where chip load and evacuation are critical. It is part of the KENNAMETAL AADE series, which targets non-ferrous roughing with a short flute length format. Compatible toolholding systems listed by the manufacturer include HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores, HC 20M through HC 32M hydraulic sleeves metric with inch bores, HC-HSK Form A, and HC-CV Form AD.

Key Features

  • 1 inch cutting diameter with 1.5 inch length of cut for short, rigid reach
  • Three right-hand spiral flutes with 37-degree high helix for non-ferrous chip evacuation
  • Solid submicron carbide construction for wear resistance in high-speed cuts
  • Center-cutting capability allows direct plunge entry without pre-drilling
  • Bright uncoated finish optimized for non-ferrous workpiece materials
  • Straight cylindrical shank fits standard hydraulic and collet toolholders

Compatibility

Compatible toolholding systems per manufacturer data: HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores, HC 20M through HC 32M hydraulic sleeves metric with inch bores, HC-HSK Form A, and HC-CV Form AD. Primary workpiece material designation is non-ferrous metal (Material Application Code: N).

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before loading or unloading the tool. Clean the shank and bore mating surfaces before clamping to prevent runout. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping mechanism used.
