The KENNAMETAL 3652912 is a DNMG-style indexable turning insert carrying the ANSI designation DNMG543RM and ISO designation DNMG190612RM, manufactured to KC5010 grade. The insert is made from solid carbide and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, delivering high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 5/8-inch (0.6250-inch) inscribed circle, a 1/4-inch thickness, and a 3/64-inch (0.0469-inch) corner radius. The RM chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing and medium machining operations. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in KENLOC-compatible toolholders for high-productivity turning applications.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S). The KC5010 grade provides high wear resistance with moderate toughness across these material families, making it a versatile choice for production environments where tool life and surface consistency are priorities. It is designed for use in negative-rake, clamp-and-pin style toolholders with a neutral hand orientation.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series negative-rake toolholders that accept DNMG543 inserts secured by clamp-and-pin holding methods. Consult the toolholder manufacturer specifications to confirm pocket and clamping compatibility before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Seat the insert fully in the pocket before tightening the clamp to avoid rocking or uneven contact. Inspect the insert seat and clamp hardware for chips or wear before each indexing. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for clamp screws; do not over-tighten, as this can crack carbide inserts.
