The KENNAMETAL 3648584 is a single-tipped polycrystalline diamond (PCD) turning insert in the TPG321F geometry, part of the KENDEX series. It features a triangular insert shape with a 60-degree included angle, an 11-degree relief angle, and a sharp cutting edge with a flat top chip breaker. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches (0.3750 inches), insert thickness is 1/8 inches (0.1250 inches), and the corner radius is 1/64 inches (0.0156 inches). Uncoated and ground to a G tolerance with a P clearance code, this insert delivers consistent edge integrity for demanding non-ferrous turning applications. The positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces and helps maintain surface finish on difficult-to-machine materials.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations on non-ferrous metals, including aluminum alloys, copper alloys, and similar materials classified under ISO material grade codes N05 and N10. The PCD cutting material makes it well suited for high-speed finishing and semi-finishing passes where carbide inserts would wear prematurely. It installs in standard TPG-style clamp-type toolholders and is appropriate for CNC lathes and manual turning centers operated by machining professionals in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in clamp-type TPG-style toolholders compatible with the TPG321 insert size code. Suitable for multi-use turning, facing, and boring applications on non-ferrous metals per ISO material codes N05 and N10. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate clamp and shim components specified for TPG-style toolholders to achieve correct seating and clamping force. Verify insert orientation and clearance before resuming cutting operations.
