The KENNAMETAL 3640768 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. Built to DIN 6537K specification, it features an 8.00 mm diameter, a 140-degree point angle, and an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating that extends tool life in high-heat cutting environments. The web-thinned, tapered-web point improves centering and reduces thrust on entry. With an overall length of 91.00 mm and a 53.00 mm flute length, this drill is suited for through-hole and blind-hole work where precision and tool durability are critical. It is installed and operated by machinists and metalworking professionals.
This drill is intended for use in steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys — materials that demand sharp geometry and a heat-resistant coating. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio provides adequate chip evacuation in moderate-depth applications, with a maximum drilling depth of 43.00 mm. Internal coolant-through capability allows cutting fluid delivery directly to the cutting edge, making it well-suited for CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with through-spindle coolant. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders sized for an 8.00 mm shank diameter.
Compatible with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines equipped with chucks or collet holders accepting an 8.00 mm straight cylindrical shank. Designed for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys per the DIN 6537K specification designation.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists following shop safety procedures. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet holder and verify runout before cutting. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Do not exceed the rated maximum drilling depth of 43.00 mm without retracting to clear chips, particularly in deep-hole or interrupted-cut applications.
