The KENNAMETAL 3630754 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VBGT2205RLF geometry with KC5020P grade and a PVD-applied TiCN coating. It features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0079-inch corner radius with a honed cutting edge. The insert carries a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a positive side clearance, making it well suited for finishing and light machining operations on a wide range of workpiece materials. It is a screw-on style insert held by a through-hole with a 0.1102-inch diameter and delivers two usable cutting edges per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications. Its LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining passes where tight tolerances and smooth surface finishes are required. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches), making it appropriate for light, precise material removal rather than roughing passes. It conforms to ANSI insert code VBGT2205 and ISO insert code VBGT110302, aligning it with standard toolholder pockets designed for that geometry.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting VBGT2205 (ANSI) or VBGT110302 (ISO) geometry inserts with screw-on clamping. Compatible with multi-use turning applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring setups.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder; do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excessive clamping force. Inspect the toolholder pocket for debris or wear before seating the insert to ensure proper support and accurate positioning.
