The KENNAMETAL 3580883 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding metal removal in roughing and finishing operations. Built on Kennametal's UCDE series, it features a 1 inch cutting diameter, 1.75 inches length of cut, and a 0.12 inch corner radius that protects the cutting edge and reduces chipping on hard materials. The five-flute, right-hand spiral geometry paired with a high-helix configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation. An AlTiN PVD coating delivers heat and oxidation resistance, extending tool life in high-temperature cutting environments. With a 4.5 inch overall length and a 1 inch straight-cylindrical shank, this end mill seats securely in standard hydraulic and collet toolholding systems. It is intended for use by machining professionals in CNC milling operations.
This end mill is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its short length-of-cut classification suits high-rigidity setups where deflection must be minimized. Single-end configuration means the tool is replaced rather than flipped when worn. The 30-degree high helix angle improves surface finish and reduces cutting forces across a range of depths of cut, making it a practical choice for both roughing passes and semi-finish operations on ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces.
Designed for use with HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 Hydraulic Sleeves Inch with Inch Bores, HC 20M through HC 32M Hydraulic Sleeves Metric with Inch Bores, HC-HSK Form A toolholders, and HC-CV Form AD toolholders as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from its holder. Verify shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before committing to a full cut. Torque all clamping hardware to the toolholder manufacturer's specification and confirm proper coolant or air-blast setup before starting the program.
