The KENNAMETAL 3580878 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 3/4 inch diameter, a 0.12 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a right-hand spiral cut. The tool carries an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating applied for elevated heat resistance and extended tool life in abrasive materials. With a 1-1/2 inch length of cut and 4 inch overall length, this end mill handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single-end, short-length configuration. It is part of the KENNAMETAL UCDE series and is built from submicron carbide grade for consistent edge integrity under high feed loads.
This end mill is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is a strong choice for shops running production work on CNC vertical or horizontal machining centers where tool life and surface finish consistency are critical. The straight cylindrical shank with 3/4 inch diameter fits standard collet chucks and hydraulic toolholding systems. Compatible toolholding includes HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves inch bore, HC 20M through HC 32M hydraulic sleeves metric with inch bores, and HC-HSK Form A holders. The normal pitch flute geometry with high helix supports chip evacuation in both ferrous and hard material cuts.
Compatible with HC 1/2 through HC 1-1/4 hydraulic sleeves with inch bores, HC 20M through HC 32M hydraulic sleeves metric with inch bores, and HC-HSK Form A toolholding systems. Intended for use on CNC machining centers running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard workpiece materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque and runout specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is disabled before seating or removing the end mill. Verify shank seating depth and radial runout with a dial indicator before cutting to prevent premature edge wear. Consult the applicable machine tool manual and cutting data guidelines for recommended speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for the target workpiece material.
