The KENNAMETAL 3580804 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in steel, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 0.5 inch mill diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 0.12 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge while improving surface finish. The tool runs a 5-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a high helix angle of 38 degrees, optimizing chip evacuation during both roughing and finishing passes. An AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding machining environments. This end mill is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in CNC machining centers.
This end mill is suited for applications in aerospace, die and mold, and general precision machining where steel, superalloys, and titanium are the primary workpiece materials. The corner radius geometry makes it a practical choice for profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling where sharp inside corner breakage is a concern. It is a single-end tool with a straight cylindrical shank, compatible with standard end mill toolholders. The UDDE series designation places it in Kennametal's submicron carbide grade lineup, which is optimized for high-speed, high-feed cutting strategies in difficult-to-machine materials.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel, superalloys, and titanium. Not rated for center-cutting operations; plunge entry is not recommended without a pilot hole or ramping entry strategy.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping specifications. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Verify runout at the toolholder before cutting - excessive runout accelerates edge wear on multi-flute carbide tools. Confirm correct spindle speed and feed rate for the workpiece material before engaging the cut; consult Kennametal's published cutting data for the UDDE series.
