The KENNAMETAL 3556374 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ISO designation HNGJ090543ANSNHD and manufacturer grade KC725M. It features a hexagonal insert shape with a negative rake angle of 15 degrees and 12 usable cutting edges, making it a cost-effective choice for high-production milling operations. The insert is coated via PVD with TiAlN for thermal resistance and wear life in demanding cuts. At 0.2142 inches thick with a 0.6250-inch inscribed circle and a 0.1710-inch corner radius, this double-sided insert is held in place by screw clamping and suits both roughing and finishing passes on the appropriate cutter body.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. It fits Kennametal Dodeka-series cutter bodies and is suited for applications in aerospace, energy, and general machining where tool life and edge security in difficult workpiece materials are priorities. The HD chip breaker geometry handles moderate to heavy chip loads. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.5000 inches, giving machinists meaningful material removal rates per pass.
Designed for use in Kennametal Dodeka-series milling cutter bodies. Insert conforms to ANSI code HNGJ53511ANSNHD and ISO code HNGJ090543ANSNHD. Suitable for material grades C5, C6, and C7. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the screw-clamp holding method standard to Dodeka-series cutter bodies. Ensure the cutter body is fully secured and the spindle is locked out before seating or removing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw threads for wear or debris before each insert change. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rates specified in the Kennametal Dodeka tooling documentation for the cutter body in use.
