The KENNAMETAL 3556331 is a solid carbide milling insert in the HNGJ series, designed for high-performance milling of steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Identified by ISO code HNGJ0905ANSNHD and ANSI code HNGJ535ANSNHD, this double-sided hexagon insert delivers 12 usable cutting edges per insert, maximizing tool life and reducing per-edge cost. The TiAlN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection suited to demanding cutting conditions. With a negative rake angle of 15 degrees and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, the insert maintains edge integrity under interrupted cuts and high-feed passes. The HD chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation in medium to heavy milling applications.
This insert is intended for use in Kennametal Dodeka cutter series toolholders. It suits milling operations in aerospace, energy, and general machining environments where the workpiece material is steel, stainless steel, or difficult-to-machine superalloys and titanium alloys. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both conventional and climb milling setups. The screw-holding method provides positive insert location and simplifies indexing during production runs.
