The KENNAMETAL 3528129 is a screw machine length (stub length) drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in metal and hard materials. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish, this bit delivers excellent heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding production environments. It measures 6.75 mm in diameter with an overall length of 3.1102 inches and a 140-degree split-point angle that improves self-centering and reduces thrust force at entry. With coolant-through capability, it is well suited for high-speed CNC machining centers and screw machines where chip evacuation and thermal management are critical. Professional machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users.
This drill bit is designed for use in screw machines, machining centers, and other rigid setups where stub-length tools are preferred for their reduced deflection and improved rigidity. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry make it effective in materials such as alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other ferrous metals common in production machining. The straight-cylindrical shank with a diameter of 8.00 mm fits standard collets and drill chucks used in CNC turning and milling operations. It conforms to DIN 6537K specification, making it a direct fit in shops that work to DIN tooling standards.
Designed as an OEM-style cutting tool for use in rigid CNC machining centers, screw machines, and drill presses equipped with collet chucks or drill chucks accepting an 8.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank. Fits tooling setups within the 6.50 mm to 8.00 mm drill bit size range per the B976A series specification.
This drill bit should be installed and serviced by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel familiar with carbide cutting tools and CNC setup procedures. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Verify collet or chuck bore matches the 8.00 mm shank diameter before tightening to avoid runout. Carbide is brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed-rate adjustment, or dropping the tool on hard surfaces.
