The KENNAMETAL 3482532 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CCMT3252 and ISO designation CCMT09T308, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and an AlTiN PVD coating that delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The FP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing operations, producing controlled chip evacuation at tighter depths of cut. The screw-on holding method provides repeatable seating and secure clamping under cutting loads. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers select this insert for its consistent edge geometry and broad material compatibility.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations in both production and job-shop environments. It performs across steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous materials (N), superalloys and titanium (S), and hardened materials (H), with stainless steel and superalloys listed as primary workpiece materials. The positive rake angle of 15 degrees and positive side clearance reduce cutting forces, making it a practical choice for finishing passes where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are priorities. It is a neutral-hand insert, compatible with standard CCMT-style toolholders used in most turning centers.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all motion is locked out before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert flat against the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the pocket and screw threads for debris or wear before installing a new insert to maintain proper seating and edge repeatability.
