The KENNAMETAL 3381175 is a KSEM-series carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for high-productivity hole-making in metalworking applications. This HPL-geometry insert measures 0.8752 inches (22.23 mm) in cutting diameter and features a 140-degree drill point angle with a standard point type and regular helical spiral fluting. The solid carbide tip carries a PVD-applied AlTiN coating and is manufactured to the KCMS15 grade in a fine-grain carbide substrate. It mounts into compatible KSEM drill bodies using a clamp-style insert holding method and seats in an insert seat size 4 position. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tip as a fast-change replacement without removing the drill body from the spindle.
This replaceable tip is rated for primary workpiece materials across multiple ISO material groups: P (Steel), M (Stainless Steel), K (Cast Iron), N (Non-Ferrous Metals), and S (Superalloys and Titanium). It is well-suited for through-hole and blind-hole drilling on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Specific application designations include inclined-entry and inclined-exit drilling, stacked-plate drilling, and two-flute two-margin coolant-directed tool configurations. No internal coolant-through capability is present in this insert.
Designed for use with KENNAMETAL KSEM-series replaceable tip drill bodies requiring an insert seat size 4 and HPL insert geometry. Verify body series, seat size, and insert geometry designations against the drill body documentation before ordering.
This insert is installed and replaced by machinists or tooling technicians following the machine builder and toolholder manufacturer torque and clamping procedures specific to the KSEM body in use. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before accessing the insert seat. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or wear before seating the new tip. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machine-guarding standards during all tooling changes.
