Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 3381147 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM series, designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining environments. The drill tip carries an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process, which improves heat resistance and tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The included angle is 140 degrees with a standard point type, suited for clean entry and exit in a wide range of workpiece materials. The cutting diameter is 0.7500 inches (19.05 mm) with a functional length of 0.3750 inches. Two helical flutes with a regular spiral and a 2-flute, 2-margin geometry provide stable chip evacuation during drilling operations. The tip is clamped into the insert seat size 2 body and is classified under ISO number KSEM0750HPL with manufacturer grade KCMS15 in fine grain carbide.

This replaceable tip drill is intended for use on CNC machining centers and drill presses in industrial and shop environments. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, N, and S. The HPL insert geometry and KSEM body style are commonly used in production drilling applications including inclined exit surfaces and stacked plate configurations. Installation and tip replacement are performed by machinists or tooling technicians. Coolant-through capability is not included in this tip configuration.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide tip with AlTiN PVD coating for extended tool life in hard and abrasive materials
  • 140-degree included angle with standard point type for controlled entry geometry
  • Two helical flutes with regular spiral and 2-margin design for chip stability
  • HPL insert geometry in KSEM series, insert seat size 2, clamp-held retention
  • Rated for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium
  • Suitable for inclined exit and stacked plate drilling applications

Compatibility

Designed for use with KSEM series replaceable tip drill bodies accepting insert seat size 2 and the HPL insert geometry. Compatible workpiece materials include ISO P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (non-ferrous), and S (superalloys and titanium). Verify body style and seat size before ordering a replacement tip.

Installation Notes

Tip replacement and initial installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the tool body manufacturer's clamping torque and seat-cleaning procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before removing or seating any replaceable tip. Inspect the insert seat for debris, damage, or wear before installing a new tip. This tip does not support coolant-through delivery, so external coolant or air blast should be used to manage chip evacuation and heat at the cutting zone.
