The KENNAMETAL 3331483 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. Built on the HPRST series platform, it features a 3/8-inch diameter with a 0.03-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extends tool life in aggressive cutting conditions. The AlTiN coating provides excellent heat and oxidation resistance, making it well suited for dry or high-speed machining of hard and abrasive materials. Four flutes deliver a strong balance of chip evacuation and surface finish quality. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in production and job-shop environments.
The 3331483 is intended for milling operations on ferrous metals, hardened steels, stainless alloys, and similar difficult-to-machine materials. Its stub-length configuration and 1/2-inch length of cut make it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate-depth slot milling, profile milling, and finishing passes where rigidity and minimal deflection are priorities. The single-end, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC vertical and horizontal milling setups. Centercutting capability allows plunge entries without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling solution for standard 3/8-inch collet or end mill holders used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with CNC tooling and workholding practices. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the retention system per the holder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before starting a production run, as excessive runout will accelerate wear and degrade surface finish.
