The KENNAMETAL 3331482 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling applications in metal cutting environments. The tool features a 1/4 inch diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and four flutes with a 40-degree helix angle. An AlTiN coating provides heat resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher feed rates and improved wear resistance compared to standard carbide grades. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge operations as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in production and job-shop settings.
This tool is suited for ferrous and hardened alloy milling operations where surface finish and edge integrity are critical. The 3/4 inch length of cut and 2-1/2 inch overall length make it appropriate for shallow-to-medium depth pocketing, profiling, and contouring passes. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry are standard for conventional CNC machining centers. It belongs to the HPRST series, which is oriented toward high-productivity roughing and finishing in steel and stainless applications. The 1/4 inch shank fits standard ER and straight-bore collet toolholders commonly found in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling solution for 1/4 inch straight-bore or ER collet toolholders on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. Part of the KENNAMETAL HPRST series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder and torque the retention nut according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout will accelerate wear and degrade surface finish.
