The KENNAMETAL 3331045 is a right-hand indexable boring bar designed for internal turning and precision bore finishing on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the L-SCLP toolholder style, it accepts CP-style inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method for repeatable positioning and rigid setup. The bar features a 5/8-inch shank diameter and an overall length of 8.012 inches, with a minimum bore diameter of 0.77 inches and a maximum bore depth of 1.05 inches. A through-coolant design delivers cutting fluid directly to the insert tip, helping to control heat and clear chips in deep bore applications. The tool body is manufactured from heavy metal for vibration dampening in tight-clearance bores.
This boring bar is suited for production and job-shop environments where consistent bore quality is required in small-diameter internal features. The neutral rake geometry and -5 degree lead angle support stable cutting in a range of workpiece materials. Through-coolant capability makes it practical for applications where chip evacuation and thermal control are critical, such as deep bores in steel, cast iron, or ductile alloys. Installation and setup are typically performed by machinists or tooling technicians on CNC turning equipment.
Designed for use with CP-style indexable inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 5/32-inch insert thickness. Compatible with CNC lathes and turning centers equipped with 5/8-inch boring bar holders and through-coolant supply.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Shut down spindle rotation and isolate machine power before mounting or indexing inserts. Verify shank clamping torque per machine tool builder specifications and confirm coolant supply lines are clear before engaging through-coolant flow. Always index or replace worn inserts before resuming cuts to avoid bore damage or tool deflection.
