The KENNAMETAL 3033729 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ISO designation EDPT140408PDERHD and ANSI code EP1408EHD. Manufactured to the KC725M grade with a TiAlN PVD coating applied over a honed cutting edge, this parallelogram-shaped insert is built for demanding face and shoulder milling operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It measures 0.6878 inches in length, 0.3300 inches in width, and 0.1770 inches thick, with a 1/32-inch corner radius. The positive rake geometry and 15-degree relief angle reduce cutting forces and promote clean chip evacuation. Licensed tradespeople and machining professionals install this insert in compatible toolholders using the screw-holding method.
This insert belongs to the EDPT series and is compatible with Kennametal Mill 1-14 cutter bodies. The HD chip breaker designation makes it suited for roughing and semi-finishing passes on steel and stainless steel workpieces, as well as difficult-to-machine superalloys and titanium. It is a single-sided, right-hand insert with two cutting edges, delivering consistent performance in production milling environments ranging from job shops to aerospace and energy sector machining cells.
Designed for use with Kennametal Mill 1-14 cutter series toolholders. Insert fits EDPT-series cutter bodies accepting size 1408 inserts. Suitable for machining steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S) workpiece materials per ISO material classification codes.
Installation is performed by trained machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamping screw to avoid seating errors that can damage the pocket or the insert. Inspect the pocket for chips or debris prior to installation, as contamination under the insert affects runout and tool life.
