The KENNAMETAL 2982019 is a solid carbide milling insert in the OFKT series, manufactured to ISO code OFKT07L6AFENLB and ANSI code OFKT64AFEN6LB. The insert features an octagonal shape with eight cutting edges, a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, and a KC725M manufacturer grade optimized for steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It measures 0.7360 inches in width and length with a thickness of 0.2362 inches and a corner radius of 0.0472 inches (3/64 inch). The positive rake geometry and honed cutting edge style support efficient chip evacuation and extended tool life in demanding milling operations. It is held in the cutter body by screw clamping and is a single-sided insert.
This insert is designed for use in KSOM-series milling cutters and is suited for face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose milling applications in both production and maintenance environments. Primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S). The LB chip breaker geometry is matched to medium-duty cutting conditions in these material groups. Installation is performed by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC machining centers and manual milling setups where the KSOM cutter series is in use.
Designed for use with KSOM-series milling cutter bodies. Compatible with applications targeting material grades C5, C6, and C7. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards per codes OFKT64AFEN6LB and OFKT07L6AFENLB respectively.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw per the cutter body manufacturer specification — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert.
