The KENNAMETAL 2877459 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ISO designation EDPT180516PDERHD and manufactured to KCPK30 grade. It features a CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection across a wide range of cutting conditions. The insert has a parallelogram shape with a 70-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a honed cutting edge style. Thickness measures 0.217 inches and inscribed circle diameter measures 0.428 inches. The HD chip breaker geometry is suited for moderate-to-heavy depth-of-cut applications in production milling environments. This insert is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC milling operations.
This insert is designed for use in the Kennametal Mill 1-18 cutter series and is compatible with right-hand cutting configurations. It is suited for face milling and shoulder milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Material grade classifications C1, C5, and C6 cover a broad spectrum of ISO application groups P, M, K, and S. It is appropriate for both production-floor and job-shop environments where a single insert grade must perform across multiple workpiece materials. The screw-in holding method provides secure clamping and repeatable indexing.
Compatible with the Kennametal Mill 1-18 cutter series. Insert size code 1816; ANSI code EP1816EHD; ISO code EDPT180516PDERHD. Suitable for right-hand cutting tool bodies accepting EDPT series inserts.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to achieve proper screw torque without over-tightening. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw threads for wear or contamination before seating a new insert.
