The KENNAMETAL 2658405 is a taper length drill bit built for demanding metal-cutting applications in production and maintenance environments. Manufactured from solid carbide with a TiAlN coating, it delivers extended tool life and heat resistance when drilling into cast iron and steel. The drill measures 25/64 inch (0.3906 inch decimal) in diameter with an overall length of 4.8031 inches and a flute length of 3.1496 inches. A 132-degree point angle and web-thinned, tapered web geometry reduce entry force and improve chip evacuation. This bit is part of the Series B978 high-performance lineup and conforms to DIN 6537K specifications.
This drill bit is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual operations requiring precise, repeatable hole quality in ferrous materials. It is designed for use in cast iron and steel applications in both production shop and job-site environments. The straight cylindrical shank with a 0.3937 inch (10.00 mm) diameter seats in standard collets and chucks. Coolant-through capability supports high-feed-rate drilling where internal coolant delivery is available. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this type of bit.
Designed for use in cast iron and steel applications. Compatible with standard straight-shank collets and drill chucks accepting a 0.3937 inch (10.00 mm) shank diameter. Part of the KENNAMETAL Series B978 high-performance solid carbide drill line.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle and collet or chuck are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Confirm that the holding device is rated for the shank diameter and that all guards are in place before spindle start. When using coolant-through capability, verify that coolant pressure and flow rate are within the machine's specified range before initiating the drilling cycle.
