The KENNAMETAL 2658234 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It measures 33/64 inches (0.5156 inches) in diameter with a 140-degree split point and a TiAlN coating that extends tool life by reducing heat buildup and wear at the cutting edge. The overall length is 4.8819 inches with a flute length of 3.0315 inches. Web thinning improves penetration and reduces thrust force at the start of the cut. This drill is sized and built for production environments where tool consistency and hole quality matter. Machinists, tool-and-die shops, and maintenance professionals working with ferrous and non-ferrous metals are the primary users.
This drill is suited for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The regular spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in through-hole and deep-hole applications. Coolant-through capability allows internal delivery of cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone, making it well matched for CNC machining centers running high-speed drilling cycles. The straight cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks or collet holders sized for the 0.5512-inch shank diameter. Conforming to DIN 6537L, it fits into tooling systems and programs built around that specification.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The 0.5512-inch straight cylindrical shank is compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems sized for that shank diameter on CNC machining centers and drill presses.
Installation is performed by machinists and toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool-change procedure is followed before loading or removing the bit. Verify that the coolant-through passages in the spindle or toolholder are clear and matched to the drill before running internal coolant. Confirm shank engagement depth and runout before commencing a production cycle.
