The KENNAMETAL 2658224 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. It measures 3/8 inches (0.3750 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 4.0551 inches and features a 140-degree point angle suited for fast, accurate penetration into hard and abrasive materials. The TiAlN coating provides heat and wear resistance, extending tool life in high-speed dry or minimal-lubrication cutting conditions. A web-thinned, standard point geometry reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. This bit is sized for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand-held power tools by machinists and metalworking tradespeople.
The 2658224 is intended for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials in production and job-shop environments. It supports coolant-through delivery, making it well suited for deep-hole operations where chip packing and heat buildup are concerns. The straight cylindrical shank (0.3937 inches diameter) fits standard drill chucks and collet holders. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 1.9290 inches per pass. Conforming to DIN 6537L, this drill fits workflows where dimensional consistency and interchangeability with metric-standard tooling are required.
Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys. Fits standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.3937-inch straight cylindrical shank. Diameter tolerance is +0.006 to +0.021 mm per DIN specification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is torqued to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before starting the spindle. When using coolant-through capability, verify that the machine spindle and toolholder support internal coolant delivery before engaging the coolant supply. Carbide tooling is brittle — avoid lateral shock loads or dropping the bit, as chipping can occur.
