The KENNAMETAL 2658222 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding production environments. Ground to a 140-degree point angle with a web-thinned tip, it reduces thrust force at entry and improves centering without a pilot hole. The TiAlN coating extends tool life in abrasive and heat-intensive cutting conditions. At 4.0551 inches overall length with a 2.4016-inch flute length, this drill fits standard jobber-length holders and is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated production cells. Right-hand cutting with a regular spiral flute, it handles a broad range of workpiece materials across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous alloys.
This drill is used in metalworking applications where hole quality and repeatability are critical. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.3937 inches diameter seats directly in standard drill chucks and collet-style toolholders. Coolant-through construction allows internal delivery of cutting fluid to the cutting edge, making this drill well suited for deeper holes and materials prone to work hardening. Typical applications include structural steel fabrication, stainless steel component machining, and cast iron fixture work in job shops and production facilities. It is specified to DIN 6537L and carries a drill bit size range of 0.3500 to 0.4000 decimal inch.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and toolholders accepting a 0.3937-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous alloys per the manufacturer specification.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Confirm runout is within acceptable tolerance after clamping, as carbide drills are brittle and sensitive to side loading from misalignment. When using coolant-through capability, verify that the spindle and toolholder are rated for internal coolant delivery at the intended pressure.
