The KENNAMETAL 2649371 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish, this bit delivers extended tool life and heat resistance during aggressive cuts. It measures 0.3281 inches (21/64 inch) in diameter with a 3.5039-inch overall length and a 140-degree standard point angle. The web-thinned geometry reduces thrust force at entry. This bit is suited for use by machinists, maintenance technicians, and production line operators working with metal components.
This drill bit is intended for right-hand, clockwise rotation in screw machine and general-purpose drilling setups. It is rated for primary use in cast iron and steel workpieces. The straight cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks and collet holders. With coolant-through capability and a maximum drilling depth of 1.3780 inches, it fits production environments where chip evacuation and heat management are critical. It conforms to DIN 6537K specification, making it a recognized standard across industrial machining operations.
Designed for use in screw machine and short-hole drilling applications on cast iron and steel workpieces. The 0.3937-inch straight cylindrical shank is compatible with standard drill chucks and collet-style toolholders sized for 10 mm shank diameter. Part of the KENNAMETAL Series B976 high-performance drill line.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with CNC or manual machine setup. Confirm spindle speed, feed rate, and coolant flow are set according to the machine manufacturer guidelines for solid carbide tooling before beginning cuts. Inspect the shank and chuck or collet interface for runout before use, as excessive runout accelerates wear and can cause premature breakage in carbide tooling. Do not use in hand-held drill applications — this bit is designed for rigid machine-spindle use only.
