The KENNAMETAL 2604354 is a solid carbide, TiAlN-coated round turning insert in the RNMG43RN geometry, belonging to the KENLOC series. Carrying the KC5010 manufacturer grade, this insert uses a PVD coating process that delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness across a broad range of workpiece materials. The round insert shape (360-degree included angle) provides a full radius cutting edge and yields 8 usable cutting edges per insert, reducing tooling cost per part. The 0.5000-inch inscribed circle and 0.1875-inch thickness conform to ANSI and ISO standards, making it a direct fit into compatible RNMG-style toolholders. It is installed by licensed machinists and CNC operators in production turning, facing, and boring operations.
This insert is suited for roughing and medium machining operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style, combined with the RN chip breaker geometry, controls chip flow during aggressive material removal. Negative rake and negative side clearance geometry deliver the rigidity needed in high-feed turning applications on CNC lathes and turning centers. It is equally applicable to facing passes and internal boring cycles where a full-radius profile is required to blend surfaces cleanly.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw per the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not over-torque the clamping screw or pin. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper support and edge alignment.
