The KENNAMETAL 2599760 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the NR2062 insert style in the Top Notch series, it features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering strong resistance to heat and wear in continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert has a cutting width of 3.18 mm (0.1252 inches), a maximum depth of cut of 2.79 mm (0.1098 inches), and a full corner radius of 1.59 mm. Grade KC5010 targets applications where edge integrity and surface finish consistency are critical priorities. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert is suited for left-hand grooving setups in metalworking environments, both job-shop and production floor. It carries a neutral rake geometry and falls within material grades C3 and C4, making it appropriate for machining cast iron, hardened steels, and similar materials requiring a wear-resistant carbide substrate. The Top Notch series uses a standardized toolholder interface, and this insert fits holders designed for the NR-style Top Notch groove insert system. Typical applications include external grooving, snap-ring groove generation, and undercut operations on turned components.
Designed for use with Top Notch series toolholders accepting NR-style grooving inserts with an insert size designation of 2062. Verify holder hand orientation matches left-hand insert specification before installation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and spindle locked. Use the correct Top Notch insert clamp and torque the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification found in the holder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for chips or debris before seating the insert. Do not use damaged or out-of-spec holders, as improper clamping can cause insert fracture during cutting.
