The KENNAMETAL 2599537 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Notch series, designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting applications. The insert is left-hand orientation with a cutting width of 3.18 mm (0.1252 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 6.35 mm (0.2500 inches). The full-radius geometry with a corner radius of 1.59 mm (0.0626 inches) and a neutral rake angle suits a range of workpiece materials and groove profiles. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments use this insert for reliable, repeatable grooving.
This insert is suited for grooving operations on turning centers where consistent groove width and depth control are required. The KC5010 grade is a PVD-coated carbide grade rated for material grades C3 and C4, making it appropriate for cutting ferrous and harder workpiece materials. The NRD insert style fits the Top Notch toolholding system. The 55-degree included angle and full-radius profile support smooth chip flow in both light and moderate stock-removal passes. This insert is sold individually and must be ordered in multiples of five per manufacturer minimum order requirement.
Designed for use with Top Notch series toolholders accepting insert seat size 4 and NRD-style inserts in left-hand configuration.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or removing any insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specification for the clamping screw — do not over-torque, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under improper clamping loads.
