The KENNAMETAL 2599521 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the NG3062 insert style and manufactured in the KC5025 grade, it features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that supports extended tool life in steel and stainless steel applications. The insert delivers a cutting width of 1.58 mm (0.0622 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 2.39 mm (0.0941 inches), making it well suited for shallow-to-medium groove profiles. Right-hand cutting orientation and a neutral rake geometry round out its core characteristics. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in precision machining environments are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is intended for use in Top Notch series toolholders that accept the NG-style insert seat. It is appropriate for both production and job-shop turning applications, particularly where consistent groove width tolerance and surface finish are required. The 55-degree included angle and 0.19 mm (0.0075 inch) corner radius support clean entry and controlled chip flow during grooving passes. Suitable for metric-dimensioned setups in residential shop, industrial, and aerospace machining environments.
Designed for use in Top Notch series toolholders accepting the NG-style insert seat, as indicated by the MSC/Manufacturer reference NG3062R/L. Verify toolholder seat geometry and insert pocket dimensions before installation.
This insert is installed and changed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten the clamping screw, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excess clamping load. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
