The KENNAMETAL 2599516 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Notch series, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which improves wear resistance and heat dissipation during interrupted cuts and continuous grooving passes. The insert is right-hand orientation with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a full-radius cutting edge. Cutting width is 4.78 mm and maximum depth of cut is 3.81 mm. Manufacturer grade KC5010 is suited for general-purpose carbide grooving across a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers.
This insert is sized NRP3094 and fits Top Notch series toolholders designed for that insert style. It is used in turning operations requiring precise groove width control, particularly where a full corner radius is needed to produce a radiused groove bottom. Material grades C3 and C4 indicate suitability for machining cast iron and non-ferrous materials as well as general-purpose steel applications. The metric measurement type and 4.78 mm cutting width make it a fit for applications dimensioned in SI units, though a decimal-inch cutting width of 0.1882 inches is also referenced for cross-referencing to inch-based print dimensions.
Designed for use with Top Notch series toolholders accepting NRP3094 insert style. No additional specific model compatibility data was provided in the product input.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw specified for the Top Notch toolholder to secure the insert — do not over-tighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert, as contamination can cause improper seating and premature edge failure.
