The KENNAMETAL 2599509 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for external grooving and profiling operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the NR3062 insert style in the Top Notch series, it carries a KC5010 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating for heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting speeds. The insert features a 3.18 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 3.81 mm, and a full radius corner geometry with a 1.59 mm corner radius. Left-hand orientation is fixed. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC tooling specialists performing precision grooving on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
This insert is suited for external grooving applications in production turning environments. The KC5010 grade with TiAlN coating is formulated for general-purpose machining of steels and cast irons where consistent edge life and thermal stability are required. The neutral rake geometry and full radius profile support smooth chip flow in moderate to high-speed grooving passes. It is compatible with Top Notch series toolholders designed to accept NR-style inserts at the NR3062 size designation.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct Top Notch clamping hardware to achieve proper insert retention; do not over-tighten the clamp screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before inserting to ensure full seating and accurate edge positioning.
