The KENNAMETAL 2599497 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the KC5010 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, offering strong wear resistance in steel and cast iron applications. The insert has a 4.80 mm cutting width (0.1890 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 6.35 mm (0.2500 inches). The NG4189 insert style seats into the Top Notch toolholder system and is configured for left-hand cutting. A neutral rake geometry and a 0.57 mm corner radius (0.0225 inches) make it suitable for consistent chip control in general turning applications. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of a standard indexable insert change-out routine.
This insert is intended for metalworking applications on turning equipment where controlled grooving, profiling, or parting is required. The Top Notch series is a dedicated grooving system, and this insert seats into compatible Top Notch insert seat size 4 toolholders. It is suited for shops running ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces where a C3 or C4 material grade carbide is appropriate. Left-hand orientation determines the direction of cut and the required toolholder configuration, so toolholder hand must be confirmed before installation. This insert is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use with Top Notch series insert seat size 4 left-hand grooving toolholders. Confirm toolholder hand orientation and insert seat size before installation. No additional specific model compatibility data was provided in the product input.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be stopped and all motion arrested before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or insert-clamping tool specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely; do not over-torque the clamping screw. Verify left-hand orientation and insert seat size match the toolholder before beginning the operation.
