The KENNAMETAL 2504223 is a replaceable solid carbide drill tip designed for use in KSEM modular drill systems. It carries a 0.7756 inch (19.70 mm) cutting diameter, a 140-degree included point angle, and an HPG insert geometry optimized for chip control in demanding drilling operations. The tip is manufactured from fine-grain solid carbide and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, delivering hardness and thermal resistance suited to production-rate cutting. Coolant-through capability supports both flood coolant and MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubrication) delivery. This tip is sized to Seat Size 2 and is installed by machinists and CNC operators in machine shop and manufacturing environments.
The 2504223 is rated for primary workpiece materials including steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K). Its helical, regular-spiral, two-flute geometry with two margins supports through-coolant drilling, inclined-exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling applications. The functional length is 0.3878 inches, and flute length is 10.00 mm. The tip clamps into a compatible KSEM modular drill body, making it well suited for high-volume production drilling where tip replacement is preferred over full-tool replacement.
Designed for use with KSEM series modular drill bodies accepting Seat Size 2 replaceable tips. ISO number KSEM1970HPGM identifies this tip within the KSEM system. Compatible workpiece materials include steel and cast iron per ISO P and K material classifications.
Installation and removal of replaceable drill tips should be performed by a qualified machinist following the drill body manufacturer's torque and clamping procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before tip changes. Do not force the tip into the seat; ensure the seating surfaces are clean and free of chips or debris before clamping. Inspect the insert seat and clamping mechanism for wear at each tip change interval.
