The KENNAMETAL 2499882 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM series, designed for high-productivity hole making in steel and cast iron. The insert tip carries the KSEM1313HPG geometry designation with the KC7315 grade, a fine-grain PVD-coated carbide with a TiAlN finish. Cutting diameter is 33.00mm (1.3126 inches), with a 140-degree drill point angle and a helical flute design. The tip is clamped into the holder body and includes through-coolant capability, supporting both flood and MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubricant) delivery. This is a replacement tip only, sold as a single unit, and is installed by machinists or tooling technicians on compatible KSEM drill bodies.
This replaceable tip is suited for drilling applications in steel and cast iron workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P and K. It supports demanding conditions including inclined entry surfaces, stacked plate drilling, and standard through-hole drilling. The two-flute, two-margin geometry promotes chip control and hole quality in these materials. Through-coolant channels allow coolant or MQL fluid to reach the cutting zone directly, which is critical for maintaining tool life and surface finish at depth. Typical use is in CNC machining centers where KSEM-series drill bodies are already in use and tip replacement is required.
This tip is designed for use with KSEM-series replaceable tip drill bodies requiring an insert seat size 9 with the KSEM1313HPG ISO designation. Confirm holder seat size and series compatibility before installation.
Replaceable carbide drill tips of this type are installed and serviced by machinists or tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before removing or seating the tip. Use the manufacturer-specified torque tool or clamp wrench for the KSEM clamping mechanism - do not use improvised tools that could damage the insert seat or tip locating features. Inspect the insert seat for chips, debris, or wear before installing a new tip, as a compromised seat will affect runout and tip life.
