The KENNAMETAL 2499876 is a KSEM-series replaceable tip drill designed for high-productivity hole-making in steel and cast iron. The solid carbide tip carries the KSEM1188HPG geometry and KC7315 manufacturer grade, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process for elevated heat and wear resistance. The 140-degree drill point angle suits standard through-hole and inclined-exit applications. With a cutting diameter of 30.16mm (1.1874 inches), a flute length of 15.00mm, and a functional length of 0.5935 inches, this tip seats into an insert seat size 8 KSEM holder using a clamp-style holding method. Two helical flutes with a regular spiral promote chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability supports both flood and MQL delivery. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tip as part of a modular drilling system.
This replaceable tip is suited to production drilling environments including through-hole, stacked-plate, and inclined-exit operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. The fine grain carbide substrate and KC7315 grade are optimized for P and K ISO material groups. Typical applications include horizontal and vertical machining centers running high-feed drilling cycles where tip replacement in the spindle reduces tool change downtime. The HPG insert geometry supports consistent entry and exit conditions on flat and angled surfaces.
Designed for use with KSEM-series insert seat size 8 replaceable tip drill holders. Compatible with drilling applications on P-group steel and K-group cast iron workpieces as designated by ISO material classification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool holder secured before seating or removing the replaceable tip. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or clamping key to engage the clamp mechanism - do not over-tighten by improvised means. Verify tip seating and runout with an indicator before initiating a cutting cycle.
