The KENNAMETAL 2499810 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill from the KSEM series, designed for high-performance hole-making in ferrous materials. The tip carries manufacturer grade KC7315 with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering hard-surface wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The 31mm (1.2205 inch) cutting diameter and 140-degree drill point angle suit a wide range of through-hole and blind-hole applications. Two helical flutes with a standard point geometry promote chip evacuation, and integrated through-coolant passages support both flood coolant and MQL (Minimum Quantity Lubricant) delivery. This insert-style tip is held by a clamp mechanism and sized for insert seat size 8 bodies.
This replaceable tip drill is intended for machining steel and cast iron workpieces, covering ISO material groups P and K. Typical applications include general drilling, inclined-surface entry, stacked-plate drilling, and through-coolant operations on CNC machining centers and turning centers equipped with driven tooling. The fine-grain carbide substrate and KC7315 grade make this tip a fit for production environments where consistent tool life and dimensional accuracy are priorities. Machinists and tooling engineers working in job shops, automotive, and general manufacturing will find this a direct-fit tip for KSEM series holders.
Designed for use with KSEM series insert seat size 8 toolholders. ISO number KSEM3100HPGM identifies the tip geometry and seat interface. Verify holder compatibility by matching the KSEM series seat size and style designations before ordering.
Installation of replaceable carbide tip drills should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the toolholder and insert seat are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the tip, as contamination can cause runout or tip fracture. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications for the specific KSEM holder body. Confirm coolant passage alignment when using through-coolant or MQL delivery to avoid dry cutting at the tip.
