The KENNAMETAL 2435320 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VNMG331P geometry, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process and graded KC5010. It carries a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake angle of 10 degrees. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch), insert length is 16.61 mm (0.6537 inch), and the insert thickness is 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch). Corner radius is 1/64 inch (0.0156 inch). With four usable cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, this insert is suited for medium machining operations at the higher wear-resistance end of its grade range. It belongs to the KENLOC series and is held by clamp or pin methods.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications. Its KC5010 grade targets steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and superalloys and titanium (S) as primary workpiece materials, with aluminum and non-ferrous materials listed as secondary applications. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inch). The ANSI insert code is VNMG331 and the ISO insert code is VNMG160404. It is sold in a minimum order quantity of 5 inserts, with individual unit packaging.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting VNMG-geometry inserts with an ANSI size code of 331 and ISO size code of 160404. Confirmed multi-use application across turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician following the machine tool builder and toolholder manufacturer guidelines. Power down the spindle and engage the machine lock before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket walls before tightening the clamp or seating the pin to avoid edge chipping from an unsupported insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before each insert change.
