The KENNAMETAL 2425869 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation WNMG332MS and ISO designation WNMG060408, offered in the KC5010 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. It features an 80-degree trigon (W) shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a negative rake and side clearance geometry. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches, the corner radius is 1/32 inches, and the insert thickness is 3/16 inches. With six available cutting edges and an MS chip breaker geometry optimized for roughing and medium machining operations, this insert is suited for demanding material removal applications in production turning environments.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. The KC5010 grade delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making it appropriate for ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. It is a strong fit for CNC turning centers and engine lathes running aggressive or interrupted cuts where tool life and edge stability are priorities. The MS chip breaker supports controlled chip formation across a range of depths and feed rates within the roughing and medium machining envelope.
Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders accepting WNMG332 inserts held by clamp or pin methods. Confirmed compatible with ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and de-energize the machine tool before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert without over-torquing the clamping mechanism. Inspect the insert seat and chip pocket for debris before seating a new cutting edge, and verify secure clamping before resuming any cutting operation.
