The KENNAMETAL 2425845 is a solid carbide turning insert with a TiAlN PVD coating, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. It carries the ANSI insert code DCMT3251 and ISO code DCMT11T304. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, a 7-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge style. With two cutting edges and a screw-on holding method, it is suited for finishing and light machining passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical.
This insert is intended for use in screw-on style turning toolholders accepting DCMT-geometry inserts. It is commonly deployed in production and job-shop environments machining stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The KC5025 grade delivers moderate wear resistance combined with moderate toughness, making it a balanced choice across ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and toolroom technicians typically select this insert for light to moderate material removal in finishing applications.
Designed for use in screw-on DCMT-style turning toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO insert seating standards. Compatible with machining applications across ISO workpiece material groups P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (aluminum and non-ferrous), and S (superalloys and titanium).
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Before indexing or replacing inserts, power down the machine spindle and confirm the turret is fully stopped. Secure the insert with the appropriate screw torque using a calibrated torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not over-torque the clamping screw. Verify insert seating and edge orientation before resuming cutting operations.
