The KENNAMETAL 2425844 is a DCMT32505LF KC5025 grade solid carbide turning insert with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a screw-on holding method. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert length is 0.9156 inches (11.63 mm), and the corner radius is 0.0079 inches. With a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle, this insert is engineered for finishing and light machining operations. Licensed machinists and CNC turning professionals install this insert in screw-on toolholders for precision metal removal across multiple workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications. It is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and superalloys including titanium, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The KC5025 grade provides moderate wear resistance and toughness across all of these material categories, making it a versatile choice for shops running varied workpiece materials on CNC lathes in both production and job-shop environments. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are the priority.
Designed as an OEM-style screw-on turning insert conforming to ANSI insert code DCMT32505 and ISO insert code DCMT11T302, compatible with toolholders designed to accept the DCMT screw-on insert geometry in the corresponding size class.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a stopped, locked-out state and all spindle motion fully arrested before accessing the toolholder pocket. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the insert screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification - do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the pocket seat and shim for debris or damage before seating the insert, as contamination will affect insert stability and surface finish. Follow your facility's tooling change procedures and applicable safety standards when handling carbide inserts.
