The KENNAMETAL 2425826 is a CNMG431RP solid carbide turning insert coated with TiAlN via PVD process and graded KC5010. It is designed for external turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a negative rake and side clearance geometry. With a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 1/64 inch corner radius, it is suited to roughing and medium machining passes where controlled chip formation and wear resistance are priorities. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in steel, stainless steel, and superalloy applications select this insert for its KENLOC series holding compatibility and four usable cutting edges.
The 2425826 is intended for use in production turning environments where the primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, with secondary suitability for non-ferrous and aluminum-type materials. The RP chip breaker geometry supports roughing through medium machining depths, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.049 inch (1.25 mm). It is held in place by clamp and pin methods. The insert conforms to ANSI insert code CNMG431 and ISO insert code CNMG120404, making it interchangeable within tooling systems that reference either standard.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before clamping. Verify clamp and pin torque against the toolholder manufacturer specifications; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate.
