The KENNAMETAL 2425806 is a TCMT3251LF-style solid carbide turning insert with a KC5025 grade and a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) TiAlN coating. The triangular insert geometry features a 60-degree included angle, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, a 7-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge style. With three usable cutting edges and a screw-on holding method, this insert is designed for finishing and light machining operations in turning, facing, and boring applications. The LF chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation at lighter depths of cut, making it well-suited for precision work on difficult-to-machine materials.
This insert is intended for use on CNC lathes and turning centers by machinists and tooling specialists working in job shops, production environments, and maintenance machining settings. It targets primary workpiece materials including stainless steel and superalloys, with the KC5025 grade delivering moderate wear resistance and toughness across steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials as well. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm), making this insert best suited for fine finishing passes rather than heavy stock removal. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with an ANSI code of TCMT3251 and an ISO code of TCMT16T304.
Designed for use in TCMT-style screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert with a screw-on holding method. Verify toolholder pocket dimensions and clamp screw specifications before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the toolholder pocket and torque the clamping screw according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert seat and shim for damage or debris before seating a new insert, as a contaminated pocket can cause premature edge failure or dimensional inaccuracy.
