The KENNAMETAL 2425791 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the ANSI designation DPMT2151LF and manufacturer grade KC5025. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and an 11-degree relief angle. The insert is PVD-coated with TiAlN for moderate wear resistance and toughness across a range of workpiece materials. With a 0.25-inch inscribed circle, a 0.0156-inch corner radius, and an overall length of 7.75 mm (0.6104 inches), this insert is sized for finishing and light machining operations. It is held in the toolholder via a screw-on method and provides two usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is suited for CNC turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications in both production and job-shop environments. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel and superalloys and titanium, with additional suitability for steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous materials as indicated by workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining passes, making this insert appropriate for close-tolerance work where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. Machinists and CNC operators working with difficult-to-machine alloys will find the KC5025 grade a practical choice for moderate wear resistance paired with adequate toughness.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for screw-on style DPMT toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Conforms to ANSI insert code DPMT2151 and ISO insert code DPMT070204. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 0.25-inch inscribed circle DPMT insert with a 0.1102-inch screw hole diameter.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always index or replace inserts with the machine in a safe, powered-down or locked-out state per your facility lockout/tagout procedure. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified screw to seat the insert without cracking the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new or indexed insert to ensure full, flat contact and accurate positioning.
