The KENNAMETAL 2425784 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CPMT3251LF and ISO designation CPMT09T304, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process. Assigned to KENNAMETAL grade KC5025, it delivers moderate wear resistance and toughness across a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation, positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and an 11-degree relief angle. The cutting edge is honed for consistency. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 1/64-inch corner radius, and an insert length of 9.67 mm, this insert is engineered for finishing and light machining operations including turning, facing, and boring.
This insert is suited for finishing and light machining in both residential and industrial CNC and manual turning applications. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). It is primarily intended for stainless steel and superalloys and titanium, and also rated for steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials under the P, M, K, N, and S material codes. The screw-on holding method provides positive, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders. Two cutting edges are available per insert, improving cost efficiency per edge.
Designed for use in screw-on style CPMT toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert with an 80-degree diamond shape. Compatible with turning, facing, and boring operations per the multi-use application designation in the product specifications.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque range. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating, as contamination can affect insert indexing and surface finish consistency.
