The KENNAMETAL 2425781 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CPMT2151LF and ISO designation CPMT060204, offered in the KC5025 grade with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a positive side clearance. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches, the insert length is 6.45 mm (0.2539 inches), and the corner radius is 1/64 inch (0.0156 inches). With two cutting edges, a honed cutting edge style, and an LF chip breaker geometry, this insert is suited to finishing and light machining operations. It is held in the toolholder via a screw-on method.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring applications and is rated for use on stainless steel and superalloys as its primary workpiece materials, with additional suitability for steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. The KC5025 grade provides moderate wear resistance and toughness across material categories P, M, K, N, and S. The neutral hand orientation and 11-degree relief angle suit a wide range of standard screw-on toolholders used in production and job-shop turning environments. Licensed machinists and tooling technicians working on CNC lathes and turning centers are the typical end users.
Designed as an OEM-style screw-on replacement insert compatible with CPMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards for 2151 and 060204 insert sizes respectively.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician on a CNC or manual turning center. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified screw to seat the insert; overtightening the clamp screw can fracture the carbide substrate. Verify insert seating and toolholder pocket condition before resuming cuts.
