The KENNAMETAL 2425659 is a CCMT21505LF-style solid carbide turning insert in the KC5025 manufacturer grade, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process. It features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, making it a versatile choice for turning, facing, and boring operations. The insert carries a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, a clearance code of C, and a tolerance code of M. With a honed cutting edge style and a corner radius of 0.0079 inches, it delivers consistent performance in demanding applications. Installation is via screw-on holding method. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, or general machining trades handling precision metalwork will find this insert suited to production-level turning setups.
This insert is engineered for use on stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes M and S. It is appropriate for both light and moderate-depth passes, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating. Index to the second cutting edge only after the first edge shows wear; do not attempt to re-grind carbide inserts.
