The KENNAMETAL 2408523 is a right-hand indexable boring bar designed for internal turning and bore finishing operations on CNC lathes and boring machines. Built to the A-DCLN-KC toolholder style, it accepts CN.. series inserts held by a clamp-style insert retention method. The shank diameter is 2 inches with an overall length of 16 inches, supporting a minimum bore diameter of 2.4 inches. Through-coolant capability is provided via a 1/4-18 NPT coolant hole thread, allowing direct coolant delivery to the cutting zone for improved chip evacuation and tool life. The bar is constructed from steel and operates with a negative rake angle of 5 degrees and a lead angle of -5 degrees. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers.
This boring bar is suited for production and job-shop environments requiring precise internal diameter finishing on medium-to-large bore diameters. The 2-inch shank diameter and 16-inch overall length make it appropriate for deep-bore applications on horizontal and vertical turning centers. The through-coolant design supports high-speed interrupted and continuous cuts where heat and chip buildup are concerns. The A-DCLN-KC style is part of the Kenclamp series, which uses a top-clamp insert-holding method compatible with standard CN.. insert geometry in 1/2-inch inscribed circle diameter and 3/16-inch thickness.
Designed for use with CN.. series indexable inserts with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle and 3/16-inch thickness, following A-DCLN-KC toolholder geometry within the Kenclamp series.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle and coolant supply are fully shut down and locked out before mounting or removing the boring bar. Verify shank-to-bore concentricity and clamp torque specifications per the machine tool manufacturer guidelines before initiating a cut. Do not exceed the minimum bore diameter rating, as inadequate clearance will damage the insert and bar body.
